Robert Joseph Stec Sr.'s Obituary
Robert Joseph Stec, Sr., 83, of Albemarle, North Carolina, formally of Levittown, Pennsylvania gained his heavenly wings on January 15, 2025.
Born (and raised in Philadelphia) on June 14, 1941, to the late Jacob and Genevieve Stec (Reese.) He was the oldest of 7 siblings. He was a quiet but compassionate man who loved his family more than anything. Throughout his life, he went by many nicknames, known as “Stecky” In his younger days he went by Rob, Bob and Mr. Stec. His favorite though was “Dad.” He was street-smart and a man with many talents. As a young teenager he worked full-time at his family’s fabric shop (on Torresdale Ave) to financially help his parents. He was a hard worker and never sat idle, he was always doodling in/out of the house. He loved gardening, cooking/grilling, and tinkering in his workshop. He was notorious for wearing flannels which we always joked he had one in every color. He loved online shopping; QVC was a favorite of his; even after his passing packages are still arriving. He had a sweet tooth; Butterfingers, Reese’s and 3 Musketeers were some of his favorites.
Upon his first retirement, he worked as a Train Supervisor with Septa. He was employed there for over 25 years. Once retired, he took a position with Wood Services as a Transportation supervisor to keep busy. He worked there for 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob Stec and Genevieve Stec (Reese,) 2 siblings (Jerald Stec and Genevieve Braun) as well as his son Michael Anthony Stec.
Loving husband to Cheryl Anne Stec (Backenstoss) who had been together for 46 years and married for almost 42. Left to cherish his memory he is survived by his 3 remaining children Robert Joseph Stec Jr. (Renella,) Elizabeth Forward (John Sr.) and Danielle Hill (Patrick.) Proud “poppy” to Elizabeth Smith (Andrew,) Rebecca Rehl (James,) John Forward Jr. (Taylor,) Mackenzie Romanek, Sydney Harcar, Patrick Hill and Daphne Hill. Great “poppy” to Cameron, Spencer, Violet, Quintin and another on the way.
Surviving are his remaining 4 siblings; Joseph Stec, Shirley McAllister, Marlene Grant and Larry Stec (Dawn,) as well as extended family including many nieces, nephews and cousins.
We would like to extend an invitation to Rob’s life celebration which will be held at Sunset Memorial Chapel on February 1, 2025 at 11am. Visitation will be from 10am-11am. Address is 333 County Line Rd, Feasterville-Trevose, Pa 19053. We ask (optional) if you could wear an article of clothing in flannel to honor his memory.
In lieu of flowers please enjoy a cup of coffee and a hoagie (especially a Corn Beef Special) from Durham Deli in his honor as that was his favorite.
