Robert William Mullis' Obituary
Robert William Mullis, 97, of Albemarle, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Stanly Manor.? The funeral service, officiated by Rev. John Giddens, will be held on Tuesday, January 12, at 2 PM in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel.? The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:30 at Stanly Funeral Home.? Burial will follow with military rites by the Stanly County DAV.
?Bob? was born on January 21, 1918 to the late Harvey Wilson Mullis and Anna Ury Mullis.? He was preceded in death by his wife Merle, son, Tony Carroll, daughter, Patricia Kay Paolella, three sisters and two brothers.? He is survived by a daughter, Bobbie Hallik of Albemarle, a son, Joe Edward of Pace, Florida, a sister, Mildred Teal, a granddaughter, Amy Paolella, two step granddaughters and one step grandson.
Bob was a veteran of the US Army and proudly served his country during World War II in the European Theater for four years.? After leaving the Army he was employed by Wiscassett Mills as a Machinist until he retired in 1993.
He was a lifelong member of the Congregational Christian Church and considered the members among his closest friends.
Contributions may be made to the Congregational Christian Church Building Fund or to Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie.
