Robert Alfred Lowder's Obituary
Robert Alfred Lowder, 89, of Albemarle passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in his home.? His funeral service will be on Saturday, January 28, at 12 noon in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Whitley and Rev. Charles Brown officiating.? Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park.? The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care on Friday, January 27, from 6 PM until 7:30 PM.
Born February 11, 1927 in Rowan County, NC he was the son of the late John Ernest Lowder and Eliza Selena Morton Lowder and was a retired overseer with Wiscassett Mills Co.? He earned his Associate Degree from Pfeiffer College.? He was a member of the Four Square Gospel Church and was a Veteran of the US Army, serving in World War II.
Mr. Lowder was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Drye Lowder, in 2015.? Survivors include four daughters, Gail Garner and husband Bobby of Albemarle, June Lowder of Albemarle, Debbie Hildebran-Bachofen and husband Max of Raleigh, and Robbie Powell and husband Bill of Statesville, brothers James Lowder and John W. Lowder and wife Debbie, and sister Elizabeth Sossaman.? 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Robert, the family requests that donations be made to the Stanly Community Christian Ministry, Inc., PO Box 58, Albemarle, NC 28002.
