Robert Joseph Berthold's Obituary
Robert Joseph Berthold, known to his loved ones as Bob, passed away on January 24 2024, in Rockhill, SC, at the age of 80. He was a dedicated husband, father and friend who will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Bob was born on January 25, 1943, and grew up in Saugus where he attended Saugus High School. After completing his education, Bob proudly served in the Navy from 1962 to 1966, achieving rank of 2nd class petty officer. His military associations were a significant part of his life and shaped his character.
Following his military service, Bob pursued a career as an airplane mechanic for General Electric. His expertise and dedication in this field were commendable, and he made valuable contributions throughout his career.
Outside of work, Bob had a passion for classic cars and working with his hands. He could often be found tinkering under the hood of a vintage car or taking on various projects around the house. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife of 43 years, Kathleen Berthold, listening to Elvis music and creating cherished memories together.
Bob was known for his great sense of humor and his ability to bring laughter to any situation. He was a generous man, always willing to lend a helping hand and provide support to his family and friends. He had a natural ability to connect with people and never met a stranger.
In addition to his wife, Kathleen Berthold, Bob is survived by his daughter, Mollie Berthold. He was preceded in death by his sons, Matthew Berthold and Ryan Berthold.
Bob's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him, but his memory will be cherished forever. He will be remembered as a dedicated family man, a skilled mechanic, and a friend who brought joy and laughter to all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
