Rita Furr Kohn's Obituary
Rita Furr Kohn, 76, of Albemarle, NC, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Stanly Manor. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 3 PM until 5 PM at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle.
Mrs. Kohn was born December 19, 1947, in Stanly County to the late Tommie and Marguerite Furr. She is lovingly survived by her husband James “Jim” Kohn. Those also left to cherish her memory are her son Reid Kohn and his wife Melissa Brown of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren, Jordan Faulkner (Hope) of Monroe, NC and Walker Faulkner of Salisbury, NC, great-grandchildren Gunner, Shayleah and Makyla, brother, Phil Furr (Maureen), and sister Mandy Herrin (Randy).
Mrs. Kohn is predeceased by her daughter Wendy Kohn and a granddaughter Marissa Faulkner.
Rita retired from Mansfield Dentistry as a dental assistant, and she also worked for the Stanly County schools as a substitute teacher at New London Elementary and North Stanly High School. Rita was an avid reader, and she especially loved reading Jan Karon’s Midford Series. She loved her Albemarle High School Class of 1966 and loved arranging their school reunions. She was very close with a special group of ladies from high school named “The Southern Ladies Up to Something”. Rita was an avid football fan cheering for her favorite team, the Carolina Panthers, and a die-hard Chicago Cub fan. When her health permitted, she was dedicated to the First Lutheran Church where she was active with food preparation for church functions. She loved baking pies for her family. Rita was a daughter of a very close family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
