Rita Almond Estridge of Badin passed away April 22, 2021. She was born in Wilmington, NC on March 26, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Clifford C. Almond and Belzora Deese Almond. She graduated at the Ridgecrest High School Read Obituary
Rita and I were first cousins. Our dads were brothers. We grew up together and loved each other as sisters. I have very fond memories of our days on the farm with our aunt, Isabel. We sat in the fields while she planted vegetables and enjoyed every moment of our time together. I still miss her and think of her often. I trust she is happy in heaven!!!
Rita was a very intelligent, kind and genuine lady. I was blessed to know her mom, Belzora and Rita the years my family attended Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church. My best to Sam, her children and grand children.
I taught school with Rita. My classroom was across the hallway from her classroom. Rita was one of the most kindest and caring person that I taught with. She was always willing to help her students. There were many times that she would tutor her students on a one on one basis in order to help each student be successful in her class. My thoughts and prayers go to her family. Craig Williams
I had the pleasure of having Mrs. Estridge as my teacher 23 years ago. She had such a wonderful personality and expected the very best from me and my classmates. She was a remarkable woman who I learned a lot from. Praying for her family during this difficult time.
Rita was a very special friend and fellow teacher for many years. She was a kind and generous person and always brought the best from her students. After her retirement, Rita enjoyed working in her yard and garden. Every year, I was invited to come pick figs from her enormous tree. I would meet her in Albemarle and hop in her big pick-up and she would drive to her Mother’s house where we would pick. Thinking of delicious fig preserves always brings sweet Rita to my mind.
I have been out of school for over 25 years, but I can remember having Mrs. Estridge as a teacher. She was always sweet and one of my favorite teachers. Sending her family love and prayers. 💛
