Richard Dennis Morton's Obituary
Richard Dennis Morton, 71, of Stanfield, NC, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023 at his home. His funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Kinza Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Austin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6pm until 8pm at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Locust.
He was born September 3, 1951 in Stanly County, NC to the late Hubert E. Morton and Willie Hazel Furr Morton. Mr. Morton retired from Watkins Motor Lines and he was formerly a contractor for Morton Construction, Stanfield, NC. Richard was a member of Kinza Memorial Baptist Church. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed country and gospel music. Mr. Morton played the guitar, and he loved working and being a perfectionist. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors.
Mr. Morton is survived by his wife, Virginia Delaine Crayton Morton. He is also survived by two daughters, Litta Moton Furr (Jeff) of Concord, NC and Malinda Vanhoy (Johnny, Jr) of Stanfield, NC; a brother, Eddie Morton (Lisa) of Red Cross, NC; two sisters, Gilda M. Yow of Concord, NC and Barbara M. Yow of Stanfield, NC; three grandchildren, Justin Furr (Kinsley) and Garrett Furr both of Concord, NC and Kaylee Simpson (Trevor) of Stanfield, NC; three great-grandchildren, Teagan Furr, Nolan Furr and River Simpson.
