I just found out about Rev Brooks and Teresa. Time passes so quickly, remember spending lots of time in your home, Teresa was my dearest friend. I know the family will miss both of them. Thankfully, we will see them when we go to our real Home.
I just found out that Yates has passed. I am beyond sad. I talked to him several weeks ago and he told me of his and Merle's bad health but had no idea it would be the last time we would speak. He was our pastor at Allen Jay Baptist in High Point, NC. He was such a comfort when my father died in 1979. He and Merle were so special. When we talked, he would not let me hang up until he told me one of his famous jokes. I will miss you Yates but will see you one day.
It saddens me to hear of the passing of Pastor Brooks. He was our Pastor at Pinnacle Baptist Church. He performed our wedding ceremony in 1967. We loved him and his family dearly. Merle ,Rita and Chris I just want to say he meant a lot to me in my teenage years. He was a true man of God. May God Bless each of you.
My husband and I have known Yates and Merle practically all our lives. So many fond memories of this Godly man and family. He and Merle were always special friends to us. Especially over the past few years as we were unable to travel and visit as often our phone calls were so sweet. After discussing all our aches and pains he was always faithful to end with prayer. He will be dearly missed and never be forgotten.
I know that heaven is a much better place , now that Pastor Yates is there. .such a wonderful man of God.
Heaven is so much fuller but Earth has a hole in which will never be filled by a better man or preacher. Pastor Yates was and will always be my most beloved Stanly County preacher. I sat many Sunday's under him at South Albemarle Baptist after moving here from Colorado in 1999. He was an interim pastor at the time and it broke our hearts to see him leave. Our family would have followed him from church to church as he preached at many more churches in his "retirement". It was he that discouraged this and left us in the hands of a great new preacher, Pastor Jesse Dennis. I pray for his family and want you to know how much he touched our lives and hearts. He always reminded us at the end of every Sunday, "Do you know how much I love you?" And we did.
Our thoughts and prayers for the entire family. Preacher Brooks performed our wedding ceremony and will always hold a special place in our hearts. God Bless all of you.
I knew Pastor Yates for many years, through his ministry and also when I worked at Lum's Ford. He and Merle were always so kind to me and always so encouraging . May God wrap His arms around you and your family to get you through this difficult time. God bless you all.
I loved Rev Brooks. What a precious man. Condolences to the family.
