Rebecca Earnhardt Gifford's Obituary
Rebecca Susan Earnhardt Gifford, 74, of Albemarle passed away Friday, November 10, 2023 at Atrium Health Stanly. A Celebration of Life will be Monday, November 20, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care in Albemarle. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park.
Born January 11, 1949 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Homer D. Earnhardt and Doris Bowers Earnhardt. Rebecca grew up in Grace Baptist Church in Albemarle and was a member of the Rainbow Girls. She was a graduate of Albemarle High School class of 1967 and later graduated with a Bachelors of English from Catawba College class of 1971. She taught High School English in schools across the US including Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio and Olathe, Kansas. Rebecca loved baseball, going to the beach, listening to Shag and classic Rock & Roll music, and spending time with family.
Rebecca is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Bob Gifford, of Albemarle. She is also survived by one daughter, Eva N. Gifford of Cary, NC, three grandchildren, Jacob, Oliver, and Zada.
In addition to her parents, Rebecca is preceded in death by a daughter, Cherie Gifford, and one sister, Debbie Meredith.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Joseph Indian School at 1301 N Main St, Chamberlain, SD 57325.
