Reba Shidal's Obituary
Mrs. Reba Goodman Shidal, 93, of Monroe, NC, entered eternal rest on May 13, 2015 at her residence. Originally from the Beaver Creek Community of Ashe County, NC, she was daughter of the late Reeves Goodman and Clyde Wagoner Goodman. She was predeceased by her husband Colonel H. Glenn Shidal, a granddaughter Christy Shidal and a sister Pauline Goodman Rufty.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Shidal ( wife, Gay) of Benbrook, Texas and a daughter Vicki Murdoch (husband, Bob) of Morehead City, NC. Additional survivors include 1 grandson Tim Shidal (wife, Jennifer) and 3 great granddaughters, Glorianna, Joyanna and Susanna Shidal all of Benbrook, Texas.
She married Glenn Shidal of Vale, NC in 1941 who had just enlisted in the Army Air Corps, and they remained an Air Force family for 22 years, before retiring to Monroe, NC in 1963. She was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where she actively participated in the quilting group called "The Busy Bees", helping to make quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She also served as an active volunteer in Loaves and Fishes, Council on Aging, and Rock Rest Extension Home-Makers Club.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Service at St. Luke's Lutheran Church at 3:00 PM, conducted by Reverend Kenneth W. Fink.
The family will greet guests following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.
