Reba "Susie" Almond's Obituary
Reba “Susie” Almond, 84, of Albemarle, peacefully passed away at her home on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Gold Hill, officiated by Pastor Toney Parsons and Ed Arthur. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 PM in the church sanctuary prior to the service.
Born on March 22, 1941, in Marion, NC, Susie was the daughter of the late Vicor Earl Robinette and Mattie Jane Duncan Robinette. A devoted member of First Baptist Church of Gold Hill, she cherished her church family deeply and never missed an opportunity to share a warm hug with each one of them.
Susie retired from food service at Min-O-Pon, where she worked faithfully for many years. She had a heart for others and was always on the move—staying busy, lending a hand, and finding joy in serving those around her. She especially enjoyed being outdoors and took great pride in mowing her yard. Her beloved dog, Paisley, was her constant companion.
Known for her kind spirit and generous hugs, Susie never met a stranger and radiated love wherever she went. Her warmth and devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Larry James Almond, of the home; her sons, Johnny Lanier (Tonya) of Norwood and Kent Lanier of Norwood; and stepdaughter Mika Almond Rogers (Glenn) of Albemarle. She is also survived by her sister, Laura "Shine" Creson of Marion; grandchildren Brandon Lanier (Hope), Michael Curlee (Chelsea), and Kristen Helms (Dustin); step-grandchildren Kayla Rogers Robertson (Gregory), Dennis Rogers (Kali), and Rylie Rogers; along with eight great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
