Randy Earl Thompson's Obituary
Randy Earl Thompson, 70, of Albemarle, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Forrest Oaks Nursing Center.
Born November 21, 1955, in Stanly County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Charlie Edward Thompson and Altie Jean Gray. Randy was a self-employed handyman, known not only for his skill but for his generous heart and willingness to help anyone in need.
Those who knew Randy remember him as truly remarkable - a man whose laughter could fill a room and whose presence brought comfort and joy. He had an easygoing spirit, never one to worry, and always believed in finding the good in everything. One of his favorite sayings, "What goes around, comes around," reflected the way he lived his life. Randy loved oldies music and had a deep appreciation for life itself, often saying he wanted to live it to the fullest.
Randy had a heart of gold. He frequently offered his time and talents to help elderly neighbors, often refusing payment simply because he cared. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering positivity will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Vicki Hetland Thompson; his daughter, Terri Plowman of Albemarle; two grandchildren, Randi Gallagher and Garret Parry; and his great-grandson, Krimson Hetland.
Randy's legacy is one of kindness, laughter, and love - a life well lived and a man deeply missed.
