Phyllis Blake Sedberry's Obituary
Phyllis Blake Sedberry passed away peacefully in the early morning hours while under the care of Forest Oaks Healthcare and Hospice of Stanly on August 22, 2021 at the age of 78. She was a breast cancer survivor but succumbed to her short battle with Lou Gehrig's disease. (ALS)
Phyllis is predeceased by her parents John Wesley Blake and Irene Byrd Liles Blake, her husband Bobby Joe Sedberry, Son Gary Wayne Sedberrry, Siblings Johnny Blake, Betty Blake, and Ralph Liles.
Phyllis is lovingly remembered by her sons Kevin Sedberry (Anita) and Todd Sedberry (Jennifer), her grandchildren Shelby, Nathan, Madelyn, Meghan, Mikaylah, and Olyvia. Her brothers Jim Liles and Richard Blake (Carol), her sister Sandra Baldwin (Tony) and her many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by lifelong neighbors Ruby Gibson and Mark and Penny Hatley.
Phyllis was born in Norman, North Carolina on January 8, 1943 . She graduated from Ellerbee High School in 1961. She worked as a cashier at Food Lion for 20 years.
She enjoyed basket weaving, gardening, watching old westerns and listening to gospel music. She also enjoyed the companionship of her loyal furbaby Zeke.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held for family only per Phyllis’s wishes.
In lieu of Flowers the family would like donations to be sent to Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie at 901 N. First St. Albemarle, NC 28001 and the ALS Foundation in name of Phyllis Sedberry.
