Philllis Ann Dorcey Shortt's Obituary
Phyllis Ann Dorcey Shortt passed away quietly and peacefully at her home in Monroe on January 05, 2026, with her two oldest daughters at her side.
Phyllis was an Army wife until the 1980’s when she started a career in advertising which she loved. Phyllis loved to go to Auctions, Vegas with her mother, reading, horses and cats. In her 70’s, her four dogs were the light of her life Phyllis’s most cherished memories were all the summers she spent with her Grandparents on their farm in Gumsboro Delaware. She even spoke of those days as a child a few days before her passing.
She is survived by her son Franklin Thomas Shortt III, wife Jackie Shortt of MD. Daughter Laurie Whitley, husband Chad Whitley of Stanfield, N.C. Daughter Wendy Shortt of S.C. Daughter Ella Shortt of WA. Daughter Kayla Torres of Locust, N.C. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brother Jim Littleton and wife Abbe Littleton of CA. Brother Mike Littleton and wife Peggy Littleton of CA.
Proceeded in death: Her husband of 50 years Franklin Tomas Shortt II Father Marion Tull Dorcey of MD. Mother Jean Collins Travers of CA. Phyllis requested to have a private celebration of life at her daughters’ home in Stanfield N.C.
