Phil Cuthbertson's Obituary
Mr. George "Phil" Philip Cuthbertson, age 60, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 26th, 2019 at Union County Hospice.
Services honoring Phil's life including full Military Honors will be held 6:00 PM, Thursday, October 3, 2019 in the Davis Chapel, 1003 E. Franklin St., Monroe, NC. 28112.
Phil was born February 27, 1959 in Union County, NC, a son of the late George Vann Cuthbertson and Rebecca Eleanor Connell. Phil attended Piedmont High School, and enlisted in the military after graduation. A Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, Phil served our country for over a decade, returning home to Union County as a Gulf War Veteran. Phil worked as a brick mason, building athletic fields, and was a mechanic for Bell Nursery until his retirement. In his free time, Phil could be found enjoying auto and motorcycle racing, listening to the blues, or watching old western movies and TV shows. An avid animal lover, Phil especially loved horses. He also appreciated nature, and spent time camping and rock climbing. Known for his strength and sense of humor, Phil will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Phil is survived by his three daughters; Carly Cuthbertson, Rhiannon Cuthbertson, and Arizona Cuthbertson. Survivors also include his brother, Andy Cuthbertson, the mother to his three daughters, Gail Cuthbertson, four grandchildren; Cash Irby, Khane Spradlin, Ava Orbison, Kyla Orbison, and his two nieces; Grace and Megan.
