Peggy Cathey Carpenter's Obituary
Peggy Carpenter, 88, of Badin, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023 in her home. Her funeral service will be 1pm Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at West Albemarle Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Hatley officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11am until 12:45pm at the church prior to the service.
She was born July 30, 1935 in Fairfield, SC to the late Robert Edgar Cathey and Minnie Cathey. Peggy retired from First Bank in Albemarle with 46 years of service. She was a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was a former member of the Stanly Actioners and the Civitan Club in Albemarle. Peggy loved to read, work with puzzle books, and greatly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, John Carpenter on February 5, 1998. She is survived by a son, Jeffrey Carpenter of Charlotte, NC; son-in-law, Tim Morton of MN; daughter-in-law, Debbie Saxton of Albemarle, NC; three grandchildren, Tuesday Sullivan (Michael) of Albemarle, NC, Lindsay Meyer (Matt) of MN and Alex Morton of Albemarle, NC; seven great- grandchildren, Taylen Sullivan, Holden Sullivan, Gatlin Sullivan, Payton Meyer, Lauren Meyer, Charlotte “Charlie” Meyer and Delilah Morton and her dog, Chloe. Peggy was preceded in death by a daughter, Mitzi Morton and granddaughter, Lauren Hinson.
