Paul was born on December, 12, 1943 in the Bronx, NY, a son of the late Louis Allen and Eleanor Pinto Allen. He spent his childhood there with his sister and two brothers. At the age of 19, Paul enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he spent the next four years devoting his life to serving his country. After being honorably discharged in 1966, he spent the next 35 years as a volunteer firefighter in Hawthorne, New Jersey. A man who loved helping people, he was also an EMT for 10 years, worked part time in the hospital and was a member of the KOC at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church. His caring spirit led him to meet the love of his life, Hilda Rivera, at a diner in North Haledon, NJ. On October 17, 1970, he and Hilda were married at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church. They had two beautiful daughters, Dawn Allen-Cirafesi and Lynn Allen and raised them both in Hawthorne. Throughout their marriage, they enjoyed traveling around the world to Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Canada, Jamaica, Aruba, Bermuda, Mexico, Hawaii, and the Dominican Republic. Even after experiencing all the cultures and foods throughout the world, nothing compared to a homecooked meal from his wife. Paul loved sitting down at the table every evening with his family and praised his wife for her undisputed cooking abilities. He was a devoted fan to the Young and the Restless, the WWE and NASCAR. One of his fondest memories with his daughter was going to Darlington Motor Speedway. In 2007, he became a grandfather to his one and only grandson, Ethan. Paul loved spending time with him and teaching him the importance of life. A proud grandfather, he carried Ethan's photo in his wallet with him every day. Paul and Hilda relocated to Waxhaw, NC in 2013, where he enjoyed retirement and was happy to spend his final years. Paul's impact on this country, his friends and most importantly, his family will be cherished for eternity.
Those left to carry on Paul's memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Hilda M. Allen; his daughter, Lynn A. Allen; his daughter, Dawn R. Cirafesi (Craig); his one and only grandson, Ethan Cirafesi; his sister, Judith Allen (Shelly); his brother, Bruce Allen (JoAnne).
