Ophelia Johnson Blalock's Obituary
Ophelia Johnson Blalock, 86, of Albemarle passed away April 20, 2023 in her home. Her funeral service will be Tuesday at 3 PM at Stony Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Kaye Fry and Rev. David Blalock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle on Monday evening from 6 until 8 PM
Born May 30, 1936 in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late James Shelley Johnson and Lottie Springer Johnson. She was a member of Stony Hill United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Albemarle Spinning Mills. She loved keeping her grandchildren and was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Lowell Blalock in 2003. Survivors include daughter Valerie Blalock Putnam (David) of Norwood and son Jimmy Blalock (Susan) of Albemarle, three sisters Geraldine Corriher, Myrtle Stone, and Jane Burris and special brother-in-law Kenneth Burris, five grandchildren Kris Burleson, Kresta Pedicino, Meredith Blalock, David Blalock and Nick Putnam, step-grandchild Jason Putnam, eight great-grandchild and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a grandson Justin Burleson, three brothers and two sisters.
