Nezi Rene Starnes Austin's Obituary
Nezi Rene Starnes Austin, 91, of Oakboro passed away on April 7, 2024 at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehab Center. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
Born on January 16, 1933 in Cabarrus County, NC she was the daughter of the late Daniel Dexter Starnes and Mary Christine Linker Starnes. She worked as a CNA at Grady Hospital in Atlanta and at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehab in Albemarle. She attended West Stanly Baptist Church. She loved to sew, garden and enjoyed square dancing.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carmon Barbee, and her second husband, Dale Austin. Survivors include children Vicki McCall (Jack) of Locust, Carmen Hinson (Carl) of Oakboro, and Todd Austin of Red Cross, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 6 brothers and sisters.
