Ned Michael Austin's Obituary
Ned Michael Austin, 79, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, in the McWhorter House in Monroe, NC.
Ned was born April 14, 1944, in Stanly County, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Floyd James Austin and Patry Tucker Austin.
Ned graduated Oakboro High School then attended barber school in Winston Salem and practiced in Charlotte for 10 years. He went on to work various sales jobs and then started his own company, A&C Distributors in Oakboro. Ned ran the company for 30 years. Mr. Austin was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Ned loved gardening, helping others, enjoyed the outdoors and fellowship with family and friends.
Ned is survived by his wife of 61 years Nancy Lambert Austin. He also is survived by his son Chad Austin (Joanne Hesley) of Oakboro, brother Sherrill Austin (Mary Jean) of Norwood, sister Patsy Barbee of Oakboro, grandchildren Matthew Austin of Oakboro, Jaime A. Blalock (Conner) of Wadesboro, and great-granddaughter Riley Blalock.
He is preceded in death by his sisters Sylvia Whitley and Doris Kennedy.
The service will be Sunday, March 3rd, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Mineral Springs Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Dr. Kinney Wallace.
The family will receive friends following the service at the Mineral Springs Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
