Nancy Carol Brooks' Obituary
Nancy Carol Deal Brooks, 81, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2025, at First Health Hospice in West End, NC.
A celebration of her life will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead, with Pastor David Wensil and Pastor Stacy Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 PM in the church sanctuary prior to the service.
Born on December 8, 1943, in Cabarrus County, NC, Carol was the daughter of the late James Howard Deal and Stella Pennell Deal. She retired as a receptionist for the Stanly County Health Department and was deeply devoted to her church and community. A gifted pianist, Carol served as church pianist for many congregations over the years, including Lakewood Baptist in Kannapolis, Kerr Baptist in Concord, Cool Springs Baptist in Sanford, Anderson Grove Baptist in Albemarle, East Lumberton Baptist, West Bladenboro Baptist, Barbees Grove in Oakboro, Calvary Baptist in Albemarle, and Liberty Hill Baptist in Mt. Gilead. She often accompanied her husband as he sang, a ministry they shared with great joy.
Carol found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—cooking, baking, flower gardening, canning vegetables, and reading. She especially enjoyed crab legs and chocolate, and treasured time spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband, Rev. Aaron Brooks, of the home; her children, Susan Helms (Mike) of Albemarle, Aaron Anthony Brooks of Albemarle, and Crystal Hankins (Tom) of Candor; and her beloved grandchildren, Lexi Marie Fillers, Holden Hunter Brooks, Macy Kendall Brooks, and A.J. Helms. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Deal.
Carol’s warmth, faith, and love for her family will be remembered always.
Memorials may be made to the Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 569 Liberty Hill Church Road, Mt. Gilead, NC 27306.
