Myrl Smith's Obituary
Myrl Caroline Lackey Smith, 88, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Badin Presbyterian Church, where Rev. Dan Wray will officiate. Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, prior to the service.
Born October 12, 1937, in Stanly County, NC, Myrl was the daughter of the late Olney Lackey and Cora Alice Martin Lackey. She enjoyed a long and dedicated career as an accountant with Coca-Cola, faithfully serving the company for 39 years. A lifelong member of Badin Presbyterian Church, she shared her musical gifts as the church organist for nearly 60 years-an offering of service that brought joy and comfort to generations of worshippers.
Myrl will be remembered as a faithful and Godly woman whose life reflected kindness, forgiveness, and steadfast love. She was a devoted wife and mother, and her favorite scripture, John 3:16, guided her life and testimony. Her gentle spirit and unwavering dedication to her family and her church will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jimmy Lee Smith; her sons Ronnie Lynn Smith of New London and Derrick Tracy Smith of Matthews; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
