Mickey Doby, 70, of Albemarle passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 in Five Oaks Manor, Concord surrounded with love from his five kids and grandkids.? His funeral service will be 7 PM Monday at the Providence Church of God in Locust with Pastor Jerry Ingle officiating.? The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM at the church.
Born January 28, 1945 in Stanly County, NC, he was the son of the late Dewey Doby and Ludie Blake Doby and was a retired employee of the NC DOT.? He coached baseball for over 20 years and he loved riding his Harley. ??He viewed all the kids he ever coached or supported as his family.
Survivors include two sons Michael Doby and Marcus Doby, both of Oakboro, daughters Tina Ward of Sioux Falls, SD, Tessa Hartsell of Stanfield, Keisha Smith of Oakboro, brothers Charles Doby and Oliver Doby, sister Thana Truman and half sister Kay Cameron, 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
