Michael Lee Huneycutt's Obituary
Michael Lee Huneycutt, 66, of Locust passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 in his home. A visitation will be held at 1 PM and a funeral service at 2 PM on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born August 30, 1954 in Stanly County, NC he was the son of Dorothy Huneycutt McManus of Midland and the late Clifford Lee Huneycutt. If you knew Mike, then you knew how much he loved God, his family, friends, and having a good laugh. Mike had an infectious smile that would light up a room and bring joy to anyone in his presence. He was always willing to help anyone with anything. Prior to his decline in health, Mike was very active in his church and community. He served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon at Bethel Baptist Church of Locust for many years. He also served the city of Locust as a councilman and Mayor. He believed in working hard and standing for what was right. He was the owner of MAD House Cabinets where he loved working with his hands and making wood come to life for people?s homes. He was a Gideon, Coach, Comedian, Teacher, Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather, Son, and Brother.Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Barbara Huneycutt Huneycutt; sons, Ashley Huneycutt (Amy) of Raleigh and Derrick Huneycutt of Locust; grandchildren, Finley, Banks, Bryce, Sloane, and Brooks; his mother Dorothy Huneycutt McManus of Midland; sister Sandra Huneycutt Drye (Rick) of Polkton.
He was preceded in death by his father Clifford Lee Huneycutt.
Mike will be missed by his family, friends, church, and the community.
