Melissa Griffin Chaney's Obituary
Mrs. Melissa Ann Griffin Chaney, age 44, of Pageland, SC, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021 at her residence.
Services to honor Melissa's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Bright Spot Baptist Church, 1407 Lockhart Street, Monroe, NC 28112. Interment will immediately follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will accept friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Bright Spot Baptist Church.
Melissa was born on August 18,1977, in Union County, NC, the daughter of Henry Mitchell Griffin and Carolyn Ann Haigler Griffin. Born with the most radiant smile, Melissa made an impact on the hearts and lives of others throughout her life. A career educator for Creative Day School, Melissa loved her students and watching them flourish through learning. Her presence could light up any room and she always offered a kind word of encouragement to those around her. Her open heart and free spirit lead Melissa to find the love of her life, Clint Chaney, and they married in December 2020. Above all else, Melissa dedicated her life to her faith and lived her testimony each and every day. A diligent member of Bright Spot Baptist Church, Melissa loved God and her church family. She will be greatly missed but her memory will carry on in all those whose lives she touched on this side of eternity.
Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Clint Chaney, her parents, Carolyn and Mitch Griffin, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rick and Teresa Threadgill, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gary and Peggy Steele and numerous nieces and nephews.
Melissa was preceded in death by her brother, Mitchell Ray "Bud" Griffin.
