Max Lee Walker's Obituary
God’s faithful servant, Max Lee Walker, 81, of New London entered into his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. His funeral service will be graveside at 3 PM on Friday in the Taylor's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Toney Parson and Rev. Claudie Harrison officiating. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle on Friday from 1:30 until 2:30 pm before leaving to go to the graveside service.
Born May 9, 1941 in Davidson County, NC he was the son of the late William Jarrett Walker and Elizabeth Harrison Walker. He was also preceded in death by brothers Bobby Walker and Harold Walker and sister Connie Loflin. He was self-employed as a contractor in the mobile home industry. He was also a Baptist minister, having pastored Farmer Baptist Church in Farmer, NC and Trinity Baptist Church in Norwood, NC.
Mr. Walker is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Claudette Walker; son Nelson (Anna) Walker of Millingport, and daughter Joan (Ken) Hahn of New London, 5 grandchildren, William (Sheri) Walker, Martha (Michael) Harrington, Christy (Aaron) Carter, Stephanie Walker and Christopher Walker; 3 step-grandsons, Josh (Jaycie) Hawley, Zachary (Lisa) Hawley, and Christopher (Kayla) Hawley; 7 great-grandchildren, Kayden Walker, Gracie Walker, Hudson Carter, Hadley Carter, Harper Carter, Brodie Walker, and Huntley Carter; and 6 step-great-grandchildren, Silas Hawley, Kai Hawley, Daisey Hawley, Willow Hawley, Azalea Hawley and Canaan Hawley; and one sister Jettie Whitley. Along with his immediate family, many other extended family members and friends mourn the loss of Max.
The family would like to extend heart-felt thanks to the doctors and staff of Levine Cancer Institute for their compassionate and loving care shown to Max. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie for providing assistance to Max and his family.
