Mavis was blessed with a very loving family and caregivers to surround her during her many years of battling the disease of Alzheimer?s. The family?s gratitude goes out to those wonderful ladies who came into our family?s life.Starting roughly 16 years ago, they came in and helped to ease her journey, love her, and keep her safe and secure in her daily life activity. We were all blessed by the love and care given to Mom.
Mavis was born in Kannapolis, NC where she lived close to her school and spent many hours playing on the school grounds with her friends. She enjoyed playing ball, skating, and many other outdoor activities. After high school she went to work at a local radio station in the office. She later meet Lester and they were married and had 3 children. Her married life quickly moved her into a very large family, now with many new brothers and sister?s in-laws. They all looked after each other and spent much timetogether. When they settled in Richfield in the mid-60s, she became very active in our church, with the scout groups we were in, and with our school activities. She was dearly loved by her in laws and her church family. She loved being a Mom and was a great one. The journey she has taken us on was one of many unchartered paths for us and, through all of her life, she taught us to always love and to be loving, to care and be caring, to reach outside of ourselves and show those we come in contact with who ourLord and Savior is. God was the center of our family. We were truly blessed!
