Mary Freeman Whitley's Obituary
Mary Freeman Whitley, 97, of Albemarle passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 in Stanly Manor.? Her funeral service will be 3 PM Thursday in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Walters officiating.? Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park.? The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 PM.
Born July 10, 1919 in Moore County, NC she was the daughter of the late E. K. Freeman, Sr. and Sarah Belle McKenzie Freeman.? She was an accounting clerk and a graduate of Arnold Business College.? Mrs. Whitley was a member of First Baptist Church in Albemarle.? She enjoyed baking cakes and gardening.
She was married to the late Marshall Whitley.? Survivors include Janet Whitley Chandler of New London and Teresa McGaughey and husband Chris of Mesa, Arizona, three sisters, Ella Feaser, Bonnie Beckwith, and Avis Wilkie, five grandchildren, Wayne Chandler, Jr., Angie Hatley, Sarah Pacaro, Taylor Page, and Cristen Matilainen, and four great-grandchildren, Holli Mikhaila Chandler, Hailey Elizabeth Chandler, Mary Kendall Hatley, and John Matilainen.
In addition to her husband, Mary is preceded in death by a son Byron Marshall Whitley, four brothers, Lewis Freeman, Arthur Macy Freeman, Martin Freeman, and E.K.? Freeman, Jr., and one sister, Lois Thomas.
