Mary Alma Chandler Smith, 86, of Albemarle passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015 in her home.? Her funeral will be 2 PM Saturday, October 24, 2015 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronald Thompson and Rev. John Valk officiating.? Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory.? The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Saturday from 12:30 until 1:30 prior to the funeral service.
Born March 25, 1929 in Stanly County, NC, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Walter Grady Chandler and Mary Elizabeth Scarboro Chandler.? She was a retired employee of Wiscassett Mills and a member of the Albemarle Wesleyan Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Boone Smith in 1993.Survivors include sons Buddy Smith and wife Debbie of Albemarle and Dell Smith of Albemarle, daughter Annette S. Freeman and husband Al of Oak Island, brother Alton Chandler of Oakboro, 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
