Mary Ruth Cotter's Obituary
Mary Ruth Cotter, 101, of Albemarle, NC passed away Friday, September 01, 2017 at Bethany Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Service in Albemarle. Her funeral service will be at 4 PM Sunday September 3, in the Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care Chapel with Rev. Thomas Andrufski and Rev. Delane Burris officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 3 PM till 4 PM. The interment will follow the chapel service in Stanly Gardens of Memory.
Born July 15, 1916 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Lee Sells and Cordelia Hinson Sells. Mrs. Cotter worked as a nurse for many years at Stanly Memorial Hospital where she later retired.? She was a member of Hill Street Church of God and taught the Children and Adult Sunday School classes.? Mary was a devoted pastor?s wife for several years and loved serving the Lord and those around her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Cotter. In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by sisters, Jewel Sells, Grace Efird, Etta Eudy, Eunice Burris, and Evelyn Davis, and one brother, Floyd Sells. Mrs. Cotter is survived by a brother, John D. Sells of Albemarle and one sister, Jeanette Poplin of Albemarle, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will be gathering at 115 St. Martin Rd. Lot #33 Albemarle, NC 28001. Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care of Albemarle is serving the Cotter family.
