Marvin Marlin McCurdy's Obituary
Mr. Marvin Marlin McCurdy, age 79, of Monroe, NC, passed away Monday, February 17, 2020, at his residence.
Visitation for Marvin will be held from 5:30 - 6:30 Wednesday, February 26, 2020 in the Azalea Room of Davis Funeral Service, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC, 28112. A Memorial Gathering will be held at Davis Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 PM Thursday, February 27, 2020, with interment to follow at 2:15 PM at Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC, 28112.
Marvin was born August 12, 1940 in Alhambra, CA, a son of the late Lyndol McCurdy and Velma Mae Bulick McCurdy.
Marvin served our country through his service to the United States Marine Corps. After his military service, Marvin became interested in real estate, and eventually owned a real estate company in San Diego county with over 30 agents. When Marvin was not home or working, he could be found on the water. An avid fisherman, Marvin could be found fishing the South Pacific or freshwater fishing in the Sierras. Marvin and his wife Darlene met while sailing, and spent many years enjoying Lake Lee together.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 35 years, Darlene Gallaway McCurdy, of Monroe, NC, and his niece, Linda Cleary, of New Hampshire.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by a brother, step-sister, and step-brother.
