Martin Richard Havens of Raleigh, formerly of New London, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 in UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.? His graveside service will be 4 PM Thursday, March 10 in New London Cemetery.? The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home from 1-3 prior to the graveside service.
Born September 24, 1943 in New Jersey, he was the son of the late Louis Thomas Havens and Mildred Eakins Havens.? He was a graduate of New London High School in 1962 and graduated from East Carolina University with a BA in Business in 1972.? Mr. Havens retired from sales and management with United Auto Parts in Durham, NC.? He was also a veteran of the US Airforce during the Vietnam Era.
He was married to Nancy Poole Havens of the home.? Survivors include one son, Jeffrey Havens of Raleigh; one daughter, Carmen Havens of Denver, CO; two granddaughters; four brothers, Charles Havens of New Bern, NC, Thomas Havens of Albemarle, Robert Havens of Mt. Gilead, NC and Sam Havens of Kannapolis, NC; one sister Clelia H. Bertrand of Salisbury, NC; two aunts, Josephine Harbers of Albemarle and May Tamarato of New Jersey.
Memorials may be made to Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, UNC School of Medicine, 101 Manning Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-7295
