Marie Smith Swain, 78, of Star, NC passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. A graveside service will be Saturday, June 6 at 10 AM at Fairview Memorial Park with Pastor Jeff Pope officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.stanlyfuneralhome.com
Born October 18, 1941 in Stanly County, Marie was the daughter of the late Marshall Smith and Ruth Spital Smith. She worked many years with American Fiber & Finishing in Albemarle where she later retired. Marie attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Troy. Marie enjoyed her flowers, reading, painting, and cherished every moment spent with her family and her dog, Pearly.
Marie is survived by two sons, David M. Shank (Beteena) of Star and Albert Shank (Celena) of Concord; two daughters, Mandy Lucas (Mike) of Star and Ruth Poplin of Aquadale; six grandchildren, Alan, Jacob, and Jared Lucas (Jorden), William Efird, Jason and Hannah Shank, and three great-grandchildren, Ashley, William, and Raynor Efird.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband Richard F. Swain and one sister, Marsheline McDonald.
