Lois "Lorene" Huneycutt Osborne's Obituary
Lois “Lorene “ Huneycutt Osborne, beloved wife, mother, grandmother (Meme), and devoted servant of Christ, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 10, 2025 at the age of 79.
A funeral service will be held 11 AM, Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Locust First Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Eddie Barbee and Pastor Ray Kowalski. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 9:45AM to 10:45AM prior to the service.
Lorene was born on November 10, 1946, to the late Josie Varner Huneycutt and Thaddeus Huneycutt in Stanly County. She completed her schooling and went on to work in the healthcare field as a medical assistant and office manager. For decades, Lorene worked diligently in Dr. John Gaskin’s office in Stanly County, where she was known for her compassion, dependability, and care for every patient she met. After retiring, she embraced her most cherished role yet—helping raise her granddaughter, Ragen. The bond they shared was pure joy; nothing made her happier than playing, laughing, and spending time with Ragen.
Lorene lived a life full of faith, love, and joy. She was a shining example of the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Every person who met her felt the warmth of her heart and the steady light of her faith.
Lorene also loved to serve in her church, as she taught children’s Sunday school for many years. Her home was always filled with the delicious smells of her cooking—she was the queen of the kitchen, known for her incredible meals and her generous heart that made sure no one ever left her table hungry.
She is survived by her children, Brian Osborne (Shelley) of Locust, NC, daughter, Crystal Barbee (Stan) of Stanfield, NC, granddaughter, Ragen Barbee Land (Justin) of Charlotte, NC, siblings, Edward (Judy) and Paul (Tana), and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Biard Stephen Osborne, who passed away in December of 2023, as well as her beloved sister Nancy Louise Hartsell and brother-in-law, James Cecil Hartsell.
Her life was a living testimony of God’s love. She loved Jesus deeply and served Him faithfully in everything she did. Her legacy of kindness, devotion, and joy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Though she will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing that she is now resting in the arms of her Savior, reunited with loved ones who have gone before. Her love lives on—in every memory, every meal shared, and every day the sun shines, we will think of her.
The family asks that memorials be made to West Stanly Christian Ministries here or the Alzheimer’s Association here.
The family also wants to extend their thanks to the staff at TerraBella for their love and care provided to Lois during her stay at their facility.
Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Locust is taking care of the Osborne Family.
