Linda Sides Whitley's Obituary
Linda Sides Whitley, 72, of New London, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Stanly Gardens of Memory with Rev. Keith Walters officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle.
Linda was born on June 7, 1953, in Stanly County to the late Wilburn and Margie Lambert Sides.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Tommy Whitley; her son, Barry Whitley (Camey) of New London; her cherished grandchildren, Hannah Whitley and Tommy Wayne Whitley; her sister, Jana Deese; her nephew, Travis Roberts; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Lee Deese.
Linda will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who never met a stranger. She had a special gift and compassion for animals, dedicating much of her life to caring for them through wildlife rehabilitation and raising exotic animals. If an animal was hurt or in need, Linda was always willing to help. She was also well known for her beautiful birthday and wedding cakes, as well as for the kindness and care she showed to everyone around her. Linda had a nurturing spirit and helped care for countless children throughout the years, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Tillery Compassionate Care for the compassionate care and support shown to Linda during her declining health.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. Linda’s kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit will forever be treasured and remembered by all who knew her.
