Linda Broome Long's Obituary
Linda Broome Long, 83, of Monroe passed away on July 4, 2024 in the McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe. Her funeral service will be 12 Noon on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Davis Chapel, 1003 E. Franklin St., Monroe, NC 28112 with Pastor Tim Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Davis Chapel from 11 until 11:45 prior to the hour of the service.
Born July 20, 1940 in Union County, NC she was the daughter of the late Henry Frontis Broome and Mary Margaret Kee Broome. She was the owner of Long’s Sporting Goods and Pawn Shop.
Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Rodger Long on July 18, 2008. Survivors include daughter Tammy Long Kelly (John) of Monroe and son Rodger Gerald Long (Debra) of Murphy, NC, five grandchildren Joshua Carter (Courtney), Heather Carter (Rich), Ray Long, Kristi Long, and Nicole Long, and 15 great-grandchildren Mason Carter, Madison Carter, Kaitlin Carter, Hannah Sutton, Cody Sutton, Erica Carter, Dalton Carter, Brianna Locklear, Haley Locklear, Raven Long, Cory Long, Katilyn Long, Aiden Long, Maggie Gibson, and Alexis Long as well as sister-in-law Vera Broome of Monroe and nieces Kathy Helms and Sherry Dove. She was preceded in death by two brothers Horace Broome and Henry Broome and two sisters Arlene Helms and Frieda Ennis.
