Lester Franklin Galloway's Obituary
Lester Franklin Galloway, 84, of New London passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 in the VA Medical Center, Salisbury.? His funeral will be 3 PM Sunday, August 14, 2016 in First Baptist Church of Gold Hill with Pastor Tony Parsons and Rev. Todd Galloway officiating.? Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military rites by the Stanly County DAV Ritual Team.? The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM on Saturday evening at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care in Albemarle.
Born April 15, 1932 in Darlington, SC, he was the son of the late Toy Edward Galloway and Mazalee Chapman Galloway and was the founder and owner of Galloway?s 4WD and Tire Center.? He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gold Hill.? Mr. Galloway was a veteran of the US Navy, ?former Stanly County Commissioner and a longtime member of the Richfield Civitan Club.? He enjoyed hunting and fishing and politics and he loved to work.? Mr. Galloway loved children and throughout his life he volunteered in many capacities from scouting to church youth.
Mr. Galloway is survived by his wife Mavis Ann McSwain Galloway of the home.? Other survivors include sons Lynn Galloway and wife Brenda of New London and Darrell Galloway and wife Darlene of Rockwell, daughter Deanette Marie Russell and husband Rick of New London, brothers Earl Galloway of Gold Hill and Darrell Galloway of Rockwell, sisters Gaynell Funderburk of Kannapolis and Edie Almond of Albemarle, 6 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 2?great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
