Leslie Paul Whitlock's Obituary
Leslie Paul Whitlock, 62, of Los Angeles, California passed away on October 9, 2020 in Glendale Memorial Hospital, Glendale, California. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, November 8, 2020 in the Anderson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Keith Walters officiating. Following the service, the family will have a brief reception in the church fellowship.
Born May 22, 1958 in Mecklenburg County, NC, he was the son of Carolyn Metrakos and the late Hoy Whitlock. He worked for many years as a Stager and Designer in Real Estate in Los Angeles. He was raised in Raleigh, graduated from Sanderson High School and attended Lees-McRae College. He was a charter member of the Raleigh Boy's Choir and sang with the Sanderson High School Sandpipers. At Lees-McRae he was on the clogging team. He also studied at NC State University. He moved to California in 1981 and became a self-taught photographer, later transitioned to work in the staging business and continued in that career.
He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Coley Metrakos of Holden Beach, NC, sister, Ellen Gail Whitlock of Winston Salem, and many cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to an animal rescue organization of the donor's choice or to the American Cancer Society.
