Larry Gene Staton's Obituary
Larry Gene Staton, 79, of Monroe, passed away peacefully at his home on April 26, 2025.
Born on January 1, 1946, in Union County, North Carolina, Larry was the son of the late Claude Cornelius Staton and Glennie Mae Hamilton Staton. He worked for many years as an electrician with Perfect Fit Industries before retiring. A man of faith, he was a dedicated member of Bright Spot Baptist Church.
Larry was an avid NASCAR fan, with Rusty Wallace as his favorite driver. He had a deep love for animals, especially his beloved dog, Daisy. In his earlier years, he enjoyed pitching horseshoes and spending time outdoors.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Patricia Rorie Staton of the home; his daughter, Melissa Mangum and her husband Tony of Monroe; his brother, Lynn Staton and wife Doris, also of Monroe; his grandchildren, Landee Staton and Noah Mangum; and many extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.
Larry was preceded in death by his son, Michael Gene Staton; his brothers, Theron, Bob, and Joe Staton; and his sisters, Bronnie Wright and Barbara Scism.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, and love for family.
