I met Larry almost 40 years ago when our families went to the same church in Charlotte before he began his missionary work in Africa. Â We reconnected in 2007 when our Sunday School class had a reunion, and he told us about his experiences in Africa and the orphanage he founded in 1997 starting with 30 young orphans under 12 years old. Â In 2008, Larry spoke at our church, and we have been blessed to become more heavily involved in supporting the home since then. We sent our first mission team to KCH in 2010. Hope For Kajiado was created in 2014 as a non-profit organization to carry on Larry's work in East Africa. Working with churches in NC, OH, PA and FL, as well as many individuals from those communities, we have ensured these children have an opportunity to become independent and productive citizens. Â The children there will tell you that "Papa Larry" always told them to "Put God first, then get a good education, and the rest will come." Â Over the years, he reminded us more than once, that we needed to "get out of the way" so we could see the doors that God opened for us. Â We certainly could not do this important work without God's guidance. I was continually amazed at what was accomplished when we first put our trust God, and then acted on the opportunities He provided. In the past five years we have been able to build a deep-water well, a multipurpose building we named "Rupp Hall" and a second greenhouse through generous grants and donors. This year, the home rescued 25 additional children. Â Over seventy children growing up at KCH have graduated college since it was founded in 1997. I am thankful to Larry for the influence he has had on hundreds of children at Kajiado Children's Home, and am truly blessed for the friendships we developed as we worked together for God's purpose. Â
