Kutaw Newgard's Obituary
Ms. Kutaw Black Newgard, age 89, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Hospice House of Union County.
Memorial Services to celebrate her life will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, November 6, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Monroe, 109 Morrow Avenue, officiated by Reverend Chris Dawson.
Ms. Newgard was born on August 20, 1926, in Franklin County, Alabama, a daughter of the late Hobson Dalton Black and Olga Martha Long Black. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Nina Jean Pompeo.
Kutaw was an Executive Secretary with the US Air Force in Adrian, MI. She was Director of Blood Services for the Red Cross in Union County for many years.
Survivors include her daughter, Tamara Pederson and husband Curt of Monroe; a brother, Hal D. Black of Ft. Worth, Texas; and a sister, Marilyn Nelson of Nashville, Tennessee.
Kutaw has two grandsons, Nolan Pederson and Rory Pederson, both of Greensboro, NC, who were the light of her life..
The family will receive friends in the sanctuary following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Monroe, 109 Morrow Avenue, Monroe, North Carolina 28112 or to Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, North Carolina 28110.
If you plan to attend the service, the family requests that guests wear celebratory, light colored clothing.
