Kevin Ray Russell's Obituary
Kevin Ray Russell, 60 years old of Albemarle went to his Heavenly home on Sunday morning, December 22nd, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and two daughters. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 28th, 2 pm at Albemarle First Assembly Church. Reverend Nathan Drye will officiate and burial will be in Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Norwood. Visitation will be From 6 to 8 pm Friday, December 27th at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle.
Born April 17th, 1964 in Guilford County. He was happily married to his sweetheart for 40 precious years. Better known as Papa Ray, Ray, or even K Ray he had a love for sports. NC State, Steelers, and Cincinnati Reds were his favorite teams. He loved the Lord with his whole heart. He loved his two daughters and son-in-laws and loved his grandbabies. They were his greatest blessings. He was a dedicated employee at Preformed Line Products for 41 years. He never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He spent his time working on the family dairy farm at a young age with his Grandpa Haywood Smith and then spent many nights and weekends refereeing basketball and umpiring softball games.

Kevin is survived by his wife Cindy Russell, daughters Jacki (Nick) Helms and Jessi (Michael) Hargest, grandbabies Eva Claire and Susanna Helms, and Thomas Hargest, sisters Donna Ragsdale (Allen Davidson) and Karen (Todd) Morris, and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Carolyn and Clarence Barbee, brother David Russell, and granddaughter Adelle’ Hargest.
