Katie Barringer Watson, 100, of Gold Hill, NC passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016 in Stanly Manor.? Her funeral service will be 3PM Wednesday, January 6 2106 in Wesley Chapel United Methodist with Rev. Sue Crouse officiating.? Burial will follow in the church cemetery.? The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 in the church prior to the funeral service.
Born September 26, 1915 in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Alexander and Maggie Culp Barringer and was a retired textile worker.? Mrs. Watson was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.? She was actively involved in church life including the Older Adult Ministry and formerly with the UMW.? Katie was renowned for her deer hunting, quail and dove hunting and fishing.? She killed her last dear when she was 98.
Mrs. Watson was married to the late Otto Jackson Watson.? In addition she was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 4 sisters.? She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
