Born on April 27, 1948, in Stanly County, North Carolina, Joyce was the daughter of the late Craven Lee Smith and Odessa Burris Smith. She faithfully attended East Albemarle Church of God and loved the Lord with all her heart, striving to live her faith each day through her kindness, compassion, and unwavering example. Her Bible was never far from her side, and those who knew her often remember hearing her softly humming cherished hymns as she baked for family and friends.
Joyce dedicated more than 15 years of service as the office administrator at the Stanly County School Bus Garage, where she was respected for her dependability, warm spirit, and caring nature.
To her family, Joyce was truly one of a kind. She will be remembered as a beautiful soul whose sweet, loving, and generous heart touched everyone she met. She found joy in life's simple pleasures—reading a good book, shopping, baking for those she loved, and spending precious time with her family. Her gentle spirit, steadfast faith, and unconditional love will remain an enduring legacy for all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her beloved husband of more than 60 years, Dalton Boyd Treece; her daughters, Pamela Treece (Allen) of Albemarle and Rebecca Underwood (Chad) of Oakboro; her sister, Diane Morse of Albemarle; and her cherished grandchildren, Gracien Treece (Logan), Colton Underwood (McKinley), and Nathan Underwood (Miyah).
