Joseph Lawson Griffin Jr.'s Obituary
Joseph Lawson Griffin Jr., 69, of Monroe passed away on August 12, 2024 in the McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe. His graveside service will be at 3 PM on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 in the Griffin Cemetery with Rev. Chris Baucom officiating. His body will lie in state at Davis Chapel from 1 until 2 PM on Wednesday prior to the service.
Born June 23, 1955 in Mecklenburg County, NC, he was the son of the late Joseph Lawson Griffin, Sr. and Bessie Frances Richardson Griffin. He worked as a mason, carpenter and electrician. He loved to fish and play the guitar.
Mr. Griffin is survived by a son David Scott Griffin of Monroe, a sister Janet Griffin Mullis (Kenny) of Monroe, and a nephew Travis Lawson Mullis (Catherine) of Monroe as well as other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a nephew Greg E. Mullis in 2016.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gideons, 819 N Charlotte Ave., Monroe, NC 28110.
