Jos? Alberto Mata-Hernandez, 61, passed away on January 1, 2021, at Novant Medical Center uptown Charlotte. He is survived by his wife, Socorro Mata, his four daughters, Berenice Mata Whelan, Rocio Mata-Jimenez, Elsa Mata Wartner, and Diana Mata, his son, Jos? Alberto Mata Jr., and his seven grandchildren.
Alberto Mata-Hernandez was born to Jose Mata Camacho and Josefina Mata Hernandez on August 7, 1959, in Mexico City, Mexico. He would migrate with his family to the United States in 1989 to Los Angeles, California, and then to Albemarle, North Carolina in 1996. There the Lord used his life to bring transformation to many.
His love and dedication to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, shaped his life, fatherhood, and ministry. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and pastor. He pastored Bethel Casa de Dios in Stanfield, NC for 20 years. There he would become a spiritual father for many and would be an instrument in the hands of God to bring healing, hope, and change to his community. With love and generosity, he would approach every person the Lord would put in his path. Now his pilgrimage has ended and he has gone home. He will be deeply missed but he has left a legacy of faith, hope, and love through his children, grandchildren, and spiritual children.
His lord said to him, ?Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.? Matthew 25:23
His family and church will be celebrating his labor and life at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle, NC, with a visitation for his church and friends on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021, and a funeral and burial at Stanly Gardens with family on January 6th, 2021.
