John?Thomas Williams,?Sr.?77,?entered his heavenly home?on Tuesday, October 20, 2015?while?comforted?by his?loving?family after a period of declining strength and health.
Family and friends rejoice knowing that?he passed the barrier of time here on earth and is forever at home with the Savior he?served?with deep faith and conviction?after becoming a Christian as a teenager?at Falls Branch Baptist Church?in Lilesville, NC.
A son given by the Lord to?the late?John Dudley and Mae Shaver Williams,?John was born May 6, 1938?in Anson County.
He was preceded in death by?his brothers and sisters, Earl Williams,?Frank Williams,?Maynard Williams,?Edgar Clark,?Mary Louise Goodwin, Helen Edwards?and Fannie Belle Kelly, a son-in-law, Eddie Speight and grandson,?Justin Speight.
A retired husband, father, grandfather and friend to many, John supported his loved ones as a?general sales manager for American Bakeries for 29 years. ?Prior to?his career,?he also worked for Seaboard Railroad. ?He was a member?of First Assembly?of God and?faithfully?served by leading various studies of the Bible throughout the years which have richly blessed others who knew him.
John?s survivors include his?loving?wife of?57?years, Peggy Harrington?Williams; two daughters, Deneise Speight of Albemarle, Sheri Carter?and husband?Jeff of New London;?and a?son, John Williams, Jr.?and wife?Nicole of Albemarle. ?Grandchildren?include?Jared?Speight?and his wife Stephanie, Ryan Speight?and his wife Megan, Erik Speight, Jessie?Hamilton and her husband Brandon, Hunter and Sydney Carter, Jack and Eli Williams.??Great grandchildren include Avery and Eddie Speight.
The family will receive friends from?1 until 2:30 p.m.?Thursday, October 22 at First Assembly?of God?in Albemarle. ?The funeral service?will?follow at?3 p.m.?at the church officiated by Pastor Bob Gruver.??His daughter, Sheri Carter will pay tribute to her father with the eulogy.
