John David Whitley's Obituary
John David Whitley, 55, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Atrium Health Stanly.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
Born on January 11, 1970, in Stanly County, John was the son of the late William Whitley and Joan Bizuk. He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 33 precious years, Brenda Whitley. Also left to cherish his memory are his beloved daughter, Payzleigh Hopkins, who was the joy of his life; his sister, Cheryl Godwin (Don); and many cherished nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Susan Cross, and his grandmother, Bertha Whitley.
John was a deeply loving and caring husband and father who consistently placed the needs of others before his own. Everything he did was to honor his family and make those he loved proud. Known for his calm demeanor and gentle, kind spirit, John never wished to be a burden and rarely spoke an unkind word about anyone. He treasured quiet moments and valued time alone, carrying himself with humility, compassion, and grace.
Memorial contributions may be made in John’s honor to the Stanly County Humane Society, 2049 Badin Road, Albemarle, NC 28001.
