John Wayne Simpson, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. John Wayne Simpson, Sr., age 78, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Friday evening, November 29, 2013, at CMC-Union.
Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Mr. John Wayne Simpson Sr. will be conducted at 4:00 PM Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at Word of Christ Baptist Church, 4700 Unionville Road, Monroe, NC 28110.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM Wednesday, prior to the ceremony at the church.
Mr. Simpson was born on November 15, 1935, in Union County, North Carolina, a son of the late David McDonald Simpson and Carrie Vonne Rowell Simpson. He was preceded in death by seven brothers, and four sisters.
He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Reverend Gary McLain on July 24, 2013; a granddaughter, Wendy McLain Helms and a great grandson, Noah Helms.
He was retired from heating and air conditioning.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Medlin Simpson of Monroe; two sons, John Wayne Simpson, Jr and wife Patty of West Virginia, and Michael Simpson and wife Beverly of Unionville; a daughter, Debbie Simpson McLain of Unionville.
There are 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association , Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220 or to the National Kidney Foundation, 4701 Hedgemore Drive, Suite 810, Charlotte, NC 28209.
The family will be receiving visitors at the home of Debbie McLain.
