John M Hatley's Obituary
John M. Hatley born June 24, 1965 from Locust, NC and resident of Galivants Ferry, SC since 2003 was called home to be with our Lord October 27, 2023 after a long battle with lung cancer.
A beloved only son of four siblings, John is preceded in death by his parents John H. and Lois Hartsell Hatley. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 30 years and her brother Anthony J. Orlando of Galivants Ferry, SC, John’s only child, Jonathon C. Hatley (Lacey) and his most precious grandchildren, Caroline, Olivia, and Waylon all of Aynor, SC. John is also survived by his three older sisters, Theresa (Tommy) Troutman of Locust, Cindy (Ted) Yow of Stanfield, and Tammy Hatley of Mint Hill. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and ex-wife Teresa W. Bowers all in the West Stanly area.
John began a 39 year career in the heavy construction equipment industry starting with L.B. Smith, Inc. in Charlotte, NC as a mechanic. During his career he worked with various other manufacturers. In 2003 he had attained the title of Service Manager with Blanchard Heavy Equipment Machinery in Florence, SC, where he was employed at the time of his passing. John was agreat asset with a tremendous work ethic and was an inspiration to his coworkers wherever he served the Heavy Equipment Machinery industry. He was an excellent leader, teacher, and team player. John always wanted to give every customer the very best parts and service experience he could offer. He was passionate about keeping a clean, organized, and safe work environment. He took pride in what he did as well as his employees and influenced them to do the same throughout the workplace.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 2 PM at Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care at 501 N. Central Ave. Locust, NC 28097 with Rev. James Yow officiating.
